VCShorebirds is funded by a grant from the California Coastal Conservancy and the McGrath Trustee Council.
Our main goal is to protect the habitat and improve the nesting success of Western Snowy Plovers and California Least Terns on Ventura's public beaches. We achieve this goal through fencing off the nesting habitat during the breeding season and recruiting volunteers to inform beach users on what they can do to minimize their recreational impacts on these sensitive species.
The coastal dunes and their surrounding habitats are the home and stopover sites for many species of birds.
